See, the thing is that I listen to music a lot, and I do most of this while browsing the net. Now if I come across an atrociously loud song, or one I want to skip, it would be really good if I could do so WITHOUT leaving Firefox (my browser of choice).

Enter FoxyTunes.

Really useful. Lets you do everything you might want to with your music player from your browser’s status bar. Most of the buttons are self-explanatory, except for some, like the ‘single music note’ button shows album art and other info for the currently playing song. The ‘curved arrow’ pointing upwards opens up a site with songs from the same artist. The ‘eject’ button allows you to open another song, manually. The two buttons next to that allow you to bring up the player, and minimize it, respectively.

The ‘search’ button on the left-edge of the bar, pops up a menu, where you can search for stuff in context to the song currently playing. The ‘double music note’ button, on the right of the name of the song, opens ip the FoxyTunes menu, which allows you to a lot of tweaking, but most importantly, select the player you want it to monitor and control.

Like for example, to monitor iTunes, open the menu, select ‘Player’ on the top of the menu, and select iTunes. If the player you want is not listed, try ‘Generic Player’. If that doesn’t work, bad luck, coz’ it probably means that the player you’re using doesn’t allow external control by another application.

To download FoxyTunes, click here. In the column on the right, you can choose if you want to download FoxyTunes for Firefox or Internet Explorer.

The plug-in is very easy-to-use, and you can instantly start using it.
